Who operates this site
PickTheSide operates the website at picktheside.com. Questions about this policy or privacy requests can be sent to support@picktheside.com.
Information we collect
You can read public cases without creating an account. When you pick a side, PickTheSide may store the case ID, selected side option, and time of the pick so we can show aggregate split results.
To reduce repeat abuse, side-pick records may include a short hash derived from the request IP address and a separate short hash derived from the browser user agent. We do not store raw IP addresses in side-pick records.
Cookies and local identifiers
PickTheSide may set a first-party cookie after a side pick, such as a cookie beginning with
pts_, to remember that selection for about 30 days. This helps return you to
the matching result view.
Google, advertising partners, Cloudflare, and other service providers may also use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to serve ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, and keep the service secure.
More detail is available in the Cookie Policy.
Advertising
PickTheSide uses Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about opting out of some third-party vendors' personalized advertising through AboutAds choices or the Network Advertising Initiative.
For more information about how Google uses data from partner sites, visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use Google services.
Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers for ad delivery, ad personalization where allowed, measurement, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.
Security and human checks
PickTheSide uses Cloudflare for hosting, security, and performance. Cloudflare may process request information such as IP address, browser details, pages requested, timestamps, and security signals to deliver and protect the site.
PickTheSide may use Cloudflare Turnstile on side-pick submissions to reduce automated spam. Turnstile is intended to appear only when someone takes an action, not while they are simply reading.
You can read Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum for more detail about that verification service.
How we use information
We use limited information to operate the site, show aggregate side splits, remember recent side picks, protect against spam and abuse, understand which fictional cases resonate, serve and measure ads, debug errors, and comply with legal obligations.
PickTheSide is not built around personal profiles, direct messages, user accounts, or selling personal identity information.
When information is shared
Information may be shared with service providers that help operate the website, including hosting, security, analytics, and advertising providers. These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the service, or to respond to abuse, security, or safety issues.
Your choices
You can control many cookies through your browser settings. You may also use the advertising opt-out links above to limit personalized advertising where those tools apply.
If you are in a region that requires consent for cookies or personalized ads, you should use the consent tools made available by Google AdSense or your browser/platform controls. If you believe a privacy choice is missing for your location, contact us at support@picktheside.com.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, AdSense requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform when serving ads where legally required. PickTheSide expects AdSense Privacy & messaging or another Google-certified CMP to handle those regional choices when configured in the AdSense account.
U.S. privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, deletion, correction, or information about certain privacy practices. You may also ask us to limit certain uses of data where applicable law gives you that right.
To make a request, email support@picktheside.com. We may need enough information to verify and process the request. Because PickTheSide does not require accounts, some requests may be difficult to match to a particular visitor.
Children
PickTheSide is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to PickTheSide, contact support@picktheside.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site, advertising setup, or legal requirements change. The updated date above shows when this page was last revised.
